How Am I Assigned a Primary Care Dentist?
A primary care dentist (PCD) is your main dental provider. You will see them for routine dental care. They will help manage any treatment and refer you to specialists when needed.
Umpqua Health partners with Advantage Dental Services to provide dental care to our members. If you have dental benefits as part of your plan, Advantage will automatically assign you to a primary care dentist (PCD).

Other Dental Information
Urgent and Emergency Dental Care
If you have urgent dental issues, such as heavy bleeding, a knocked-out tooth, swelling, or severe pain contact your Primary Care Dentist as soon as possible. Their office can help direct you to appropriate care, including after-hours or weekend options when available.
If you cannot reach your dentist, you may contact Member Services for assistance or seek urgent care. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Dental Referrals and Specialists
Some dental services may require care from a specialist. If your dentist determines that you need specialized treatment, they can provide a referral to an in-network specialist when appropriate.
Be sure to follow your dentist’s guidance to understand next steps and any requirements for coverage.
Second Opinions
You have the option to request a second opinion for dental care. This can help you better understand your diagnosis or treatment options.
To arrange a second opinion, contact your dentist or Member Services for guidance on available options.
